shin splints and recovery days.

So once again its time for an update. I have had some really good weeks of training. It has been mostly weight training and starting to add bike riding. I have seen a lot of improvemts to my physical apperance as well as I can see improvement in my strength. That is all on the plus side. I am going to be starting the fat loss part of my training next week. I will still do strength training but add extra cardio workouts. I will include bike rides the night of a strength tainning day. I am also have beeen getting shin splints in my left leg. I think it a combo of a lot of calf exercises and running. This is slightly depressing since I need to back off both of the running and calf workouts. I am trying the trick of walking on my heels backwards on an incline of a tredmil. I will keep everyone updated to see if it works. I got two free passes to try out a local city health center. I am going to be using them for lap swimming, at least for now. I added lights to my bike and in the mornings that I am not going to the gym I have been going for rides. I was nervous at first that traffic would be bad form people going to work. I have been out twice at 5am and the traffic is light. I will continue my every other day morning rides and try to extend them on Saturday.  I have again discovered the benifit of rest days. Some mornings i wake up at my appointed time of 4:23 and feel tired and sore. I decide at that time to sleep untill 6 then get ready for work. After work I dont do anything but relax and maybe clean a little. This has proved to be super benifical to my workouts later in the week. And I use Sunday to the full advantge of napping after church. I think my body likes the rest. Besides is when we are resting that our body builds itself. Other than all of that I am feeling great. So far has been the easy part. The cardio training over the next weeks will be hard. I am going to have to push beoynd my limits. I also am going to need to use mental toughness to push through the pain. Like the pro athleates I am going to have to learn how to suffer. I know my body can handle it. It is a strong body and has got me trough plenty of hard things before. I am jsut going to need to convince my brain to forget the fact that my muscles are screaming. This is what the pros do. No drug can overcome that. Its somthing that Lance Armstong had. I can do it.

Recent pictures

This is at night after a burger. And only a slight pump from weights. So it's not my best but close to my worst. It's mostly Motivation to stop eating like a fat person and become lean and mean

Free weights

I have not posted recently I'm sorry I've been kind of lazy about it. I have not been doing much in the way of triathlon training. I did run a mile before my weight lifting session this morning. I have been focusing on strength training. I think it will help to build a strong foundation that should help my tri times.
I have not lost much weight but I have lost waist size inches. And my muscles are getting bigger. That always makes me happy. Some days I can't decide if I should become abody builder or a triathlete. Even other days becoming a MMA fighter sounds fun. I think I will continue to strength train and add more endurance work in as I go. I need to post some update pictures of my progress. I will keep pushing.
Tell next time thanks.

February

Humm
I did not lose much weight this week. Only a pound. So I going to up my fat burning workouts. Today I did 2 miles on the elliptical that can be like a stair steper. I burned 560 calories. I tryed to keep my heart rate between 125-140 bpm. I was not hard physically but hard to control heart rate. This is apparently the best heart rate to burn fat. I think I am going to start riding my bike at night or in am. I need it to warm up a few more degrees in the morning before i ride. I like how I feel by drinking 140 oz of water every day. It helps to keep the mind fresh. Life is generally good!!!!!
I love my wife and The Lord.

End of week one biggest loser start of 2

I lost 4 lbs this past week. It don't help that I had DQ on Saturday. I feel lighter and overall better. I was sore last week from my starting lifting weights again. Today in plan on putting together a game plan for my workouts. I plan on pulling from different styles of work outs. Mainly biking/running weight training, p-90x and boxing cardio/conditioning. Add to this my heathy eating and plenty of sleep and I should be in great shape by June.
The juicing excellent. I am becoming a stronger runner. Hopefully I can run 10 plus k without getting an asthma problem. I'll try to post pictures of my progress, workouts and favorite juices.

Juicing and the gym

So I have finally gotten serious about losing weight. I started juicing this week. I have a juice shake for breakfast and dinner and then a healthy sandwich or soup for lunch. And I have been going to the gym to run and lift weights!
I feel so much better. I have not weighed my self since Monday but i feel less fat. Which is a good feeling. I do get a hungry feeling but not a weak feeling I used to get when I ate junk. I have plenty of energy which is nice. If I can keep this up I am sure I will be down to 180 by June or weigh more but have more muscle. I feel generally more happy and positive about life. I do so without even trying. It must be from my healthy food consumption. And exercise. It also makes me feel more empowered lose weight. I have been trying to drink 120 oz of water. Hopefully this will aid in flushing out my system. It's strange to bee eating less and not be as hungry as before.
It's exciting.
Till next time

I feel fat!!!

I hate and love food. Hate it because I love it and it make me fat. Well I make me fat from over eating food. But it just tastes so good.
My a parents have challenged me to a family biggest loser contest. Which I am going to win.
As long as they don't send five guys burgers and fries gift cards my way.
Hummm maybe I should do similar to them first. Also I am going to start juicing more. I think I will start out with breakfast and dinner juicing then add lunch down the road. I would also like to see how much weight I could lose eating subway for a week. They have breakfast subsq under 200 calories and lunch/dinner under 600. If I ate these as my main meals with juice interspersed or some healthy snacks that could easily be under 1400 calories a day. Plus with running and biking I should burn more than that. I haven't started swimming yet. I am hoping it stays warm like it has been this week so I can bike run outside. I am going to try and go to the gym very day either to run or lift weights. Added muscle helps burn calories!!
Feel the burn
Embrace the suck!!!!
