Monday 17 December 2012

I won't go into specifics but today was not a good day.
I didn't get any training in.
I am super tired. I almost fee exhausted.
I think I might be getting sick without any other symptoms other than being tired and achy.
I had McDonalds for dinner.
Not healthy.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better

Starting pictures

These are my starting photos.
No to brag or show off.
Only to show progress.
All will be in biking shorts

Day one results

I didn't train today as it was a Sunday!
But I did go to my work Christmas party.
It was at a buffet! So of course I over ate. Food was good but I feel disgusting after.
I am stuffed I know it's not healthy and the only time I am going to eat like this will be pre race day to carbo load!
I plan on giving my current weight each Monday morning and maybe a side body shot so we can see my progress. I am not so concerned with weight (muscle weighs more than fat) but with how trim I am(lean). I will also try and post pictures of food I eat (new recipes) not to bore all y'all but to show my healthy decisions.

For those who do not know a IRONMAN consists of a 2.4 mile swim a 112 mile bike ride and a marathon or a 26.2 mile run. You have 17 hours to complete it.

Any way my wish is that as I try and live the word of wisdom that the promise at the end will be fulfilled

18. And all saints who remember to keep and do these sayings, walking in obedience to the commandments, shall receive health in their navel and marrow to their bones;
19 And shall find wisdom and great treasures of knowledge, even hidden treasures;
20 And shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint.
21 And I, the Lord, give unto them a promise, that the destroying angel shall pass by them, as the children of Israel, and not slay them. Amen.
Tell tomorrow

Intro and purpose of blog

Hello my name is Brad Larson,
I first off need to admit something, I am fat because I like to eat lots of delicious food. My wife is too good of a cook! :O
I served a mission for my church in 2007-2009. I got back and weighed 180 lbs. I used to run every morning. I have since lost that fitness.  I got this crazy idea todo an ironman one day. I  like to listen to audio books on my i-phone on my way to am from work. I found a book on becoming an IRONMAN. It is called You are an Ironman. It is the story of 6 weekend warriors chasing there dream to finish the toughest triathlon. Several of the people in this book had a blog that followed there training each day and a few of they're races in training to do an IRONMAN.  I have been a biker and some what of a runner for a few years now. And in scouts i was one of two scouts in my troop to swim a mile. which at the time was one of the hardest things to do. I did not have much swim experience. SO for the cold HARD TRUTH: I am FAT!!!!! I am not deadly or morbidly obese but i am obese all the same. When i was married 3 years ago i weighed in at 185-190 lbs. I currently weigh as of  last night 227lbs that is if my scale is correct. when at the doctors office last month I weighed fully dressed a huge (to me) 239 lbs. I understand that some of you who might read this might weigh more or less.  I want to give my experience in losing weight, how i feel, what i eat, my training, plus my races or events that i enter in and perform. Also my quality of life. As mentioned before I have lived an active lifestyle. I biked and finished the Tripple Bypass bike ride. That is a 120 mile ride over three mountain passes in evergreen Colorado. but since then I have gained weight and lost fitness. I have worked with people who have done IRONMAN races. both were much older than I am. I figure if they can do IRONMAN so can i soon to be 25 year old.

SO lets start out with quality of life currently. I tend to be a happy person. I like my job and those I work with. I love my wife and we are happy. I do tend to feel depressed often. At least more than i have in the past. Its not a stay in bed depression but has to do with body image. I have asthma and allergies. I feel that my weight affects both. It is hard to breathe even when I am at rest. It feels like my gut is pushing on my lungs, not fun. My wife says i wheeze at night. I need my  inhaler after a run or bike ride. I feel tired all the time.  I slept in today and went to bed early last night, i fell exhausted.
I dont like sitting down because my fat bunches up in my lap, and pushes in on my waist. I cant stand the fact that clothes i have hardly worn dont fit me any more. I seem to have a appetite that can never be fulfilled. I always over eat, and its not the most healthy stuff either. I would say my quality of life is not so great. So over the next year or so I hope I can motivate you to be healthy. I will try to write often. It will be hard and challenging but i can and will do it. I have not decided which IRONMAN to enter yet.
Here are my race goals.
1. finish a 70.3 or half Ironman
2.Finish LOTOJA in under 12 hours.
3. Finish a 140.1 or a Full IRONMAN
4. run an individual Marathon ( That is not as part of ironman)
5. Qualify to run the IRONMAN world championship in kona Hawaii.
6. Be healthier
Stay tuned.
until next time
